Arsenal FC
The Emirates Stadium, often known simply as the Emirates,formerly Ashburton Grove, is a football stadium located in Holloway in the London Borough of Islington and is the current home of Arsenal Football Club.
The stadium opened in July 2006 and has an all seated capacity of 60,355,making it the second largest club stadium in England behind Manchester United\'s Old Trafford, and the third largest stadium of any kind in London, after Wembley and Twickenham, and overall the fifth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom.
It was initially known as Ashburton Grove after the road it was located on, before a naming rights deal with the airline Emirates was struck in October 2004. The project cost £390 million, including the cost of the associated infrastructure.
Aston Villa FC
Villa Park is a football stadium in the district of Aston, in Birmingham, England. It has been the home of Aston Villa Football Club since 1897.It is a UEFA Elite stadium and it has hosted 16 England internationals at senior level. The first international was in 1899 with the most recent being in 2005. It was the first English ground to stage international football in three different centuries.
Villa previously played at Aston Park from 1874 to 1876 and Perry Barr from 1876 to 1897.
Villa Park is the most used stadium in FA Cup semi-final history, having hosted 55 semi-finals.
The stadium currently comprises four stands Holte End, Trinity Road Stand, North Stand and the Doug Ellis Stand. The Club have planning permission to extend the North Stand.This will involve the \'filling in\' of the corners to either side of the North Stand. If and when completed, the capacity of Villa Park will be increased from 42,788 to approximately 50,000
Birmingham City FC
St Andrew\'s is the home ground of Birmingham City Football Club for more than a century.
Constructed and opened in 1906 to replace the Muntz Street ground, which had become too small to meet the club\'s needs, the original St Andrew\'s could hold an estimated 75,000 spectators, housed in one grandstand and a large uncovered terrace.
The attendance record, variously recorded as 66,844 or 67,341,was set at a 1939 FA Cup tie against Everton. During the Second World War, St Andrew\'s suffered bomb damage and the grandstand, housing a temporary fire station, burned down in an accidental fire.
Blackburn Rovers FC
Ewood Park is the home of Blackburn Rovers Football Club — one of the founder members of the Football League and Premier League.
Rovers have played there since they moved from Leamington Road in the summer of 1890. The stadium opened in 1882 and is an all seater multi-sports facility with a capacity of 31,367.
It comprises four sections: Darwen End, Riverside Stand (named as such because it stands practically on the banks of the River Darwen), Blackburn End, and Jack Walker Stand, which is named after Blackburn industrialist and club supporter, Jack Walker. The football pitch within the stadium measures 115 yards (105 m) x 76 yards (69 m).
Bolton FC
Is a modern, all-seater stadium with a capacity of 28,723 which was completed in 1997, replacing the club\'s old ground, Burnden Park. Despite the improved facilities and larger capacity, this move was unpopular with many of the club`s fans.
This was partly due to the new stadium being built out-of-town, and partly due to sentimental attachment to the old stadium and its history. In recognition of this, the street on which the stadium is situated is called Burnden Way.
The lead architect of the project was Lobb Sports, but the local firm of Bradshaw Gass & Hope acted as planning supervisors and quantity surveyors. The value of the contract was £25 million.The stadium is noted for its distinct gabled architecture.
Chelsea FC
Stamford Bridge is a football stadium in Fulham south-west London, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham that is home to Chelsea Football Club. The stadium is located within the Moore Park Estate also known as Walham Green. It is nicknamed "The Bridge" by the club\'s supporters.
The capacity is 41,841, making it the seventh largest ground in the Premier League and the smallest amongst the so-called big four clubs. KSS Design Group designed the complete redevelopment of Stamford Bridge Stadium and its hotels, megastore, offices and residential buildings
Manchester City
The City of Manchester Stadium, also known as COMS or Eastlands,is a stadium in Manchester, England. Originally designed as part of Manchester\'s failed bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics, the stadium was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games at a cost of £110 million. After the Games, it was converted for use as a football ground and became the home of Manchester City F.C., which moved there from Maine Road in 2003 after signing a 250-year lease.
The stadium is bowl-shaped, with two tiers all the way around the ground and a third tier along the two side stands. As of 1 July 2009, it is the fourth-largest stadium in the FA Premier League and the 12th-largest in the United Kingdom, with a seating capacity of 47,726. The highest attendance for a football game at the stadium was on 5 December 2009 when 47,348 fans watched Manchester City play Chelsea. On 14 May 2008, it hosted the UEFA Cup Final.
EVERTON FC
Goodison Park is a football stadium located in Walton, Liverpool, England. The stadium has been home to Everton F.C. since its completion in 1892 and is one of the world\'s first purpose-built football grounds. Goodison has undergone many changes over the years and it presently has an all-seated capacity of 40,157. Everton fans refer to the stadium as "The Grand Old Lady" and the abridged "Goodison". The stadium takes its name from the adjacent Goodison Road.
As well as hosting Everton games, the stadium has been the venue for an FA Cup Final and numerous international fixtures, including several in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Goodison Park also hosted the first professional baseball game on English soil outside of London when the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox toured in 1924.
Fulham FC
Is based in Fulham, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Founded in 1879, they celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2004, and are in the top tier of English football, the Premier League. Fulham are the oldest professional football team in London, usually considered to have been founded in 1879 (though the semi-professional Cray Wanderers are the oldest team in London still in existence).
The club spent much time in the old First Division through the 1960s but never gained any major honours. In 1975, as a Second Division team, they contested the FA Cup final for the only time in their history, losing 2–0 to West Ham United, the Fulham side that day containing former Hammers great Bobby Moore.
Hull City A.F.C
The Kingston Communications Stadium, often shortened to KC Stadium or just the KC, is a multi-purpose facility in the city of Kingston upon Hull, England. Conceived as early as the late 1990s,it was completed in 2002 at a cost of approximately GB£44 million. It is named after the stadium\'s sponsors, telecommunications provider Kingston Communications. The stadium is owned by Hull City Council and operated by the Stadium Management Company,who are looking to expand the stadium up to 32,000.
Liverpool Football Club
The stadium currently comprises four stands: Spion Kop, Main Stand, Centenary Stand and Anfield Road, giving a total capacity of 45,276. The record attendance at the stadium is 61,905 which was set in a match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1952.
This record was set prior to the ground\'s conversion to an all-seater stadium in 1994; the changes, which were a result of the Taylor Report, greatly reduced capacity. Notable features of the stadium include two gates named after former Liverpool managers: the Bob Paisley gate and the Bill Shankly gate. In addition, a statue of Shankly is situated outside the stadium. Anfield\'s public transport links include rail and bus services but it lacks dedicated parking facilities.
Anfield is a UEFA elite stadium,and has hosted many international matches at the senior level, including England matches.
Manchester United
Old Trafford is an all-seater football stadium in the Trafford borough of Greater Manchester, England, and is the home of Premier League club Manchester United. With space for 75,957 spectators,Old Trafford has the second-largest capacity of any English football stadium after Wembley Stadium, the third-largest of any stadium in the United Kingdom, and the eleventh-largest in Europe. With Wembley, it is one of two stadia in the country to have been given a five-star rating by UEFA.
The ground, given the nickname the Theatre of Dreams by Bobby Charlton, has been United\'s permanent residence since 1910, with the exception of an eight-year absence from 1941 to 1949, following the bombing of the stadium in the Second World War. During this period, the club shared Maine Road with local rivals, Manchester City
Tottenham Hotspur
Commonly referred to as Spurs,based in Tottenham, North London, which currently plays in the Premier League. The club\'s home stadium is White Hart Lane.
In the 1970s, they won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972. In the 1980s, Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup 1983–84. In the 1990s, they won the FA Cup and the League Cup. In 2008 they won the League Cup once more, meaning that they have won a trophy in each of the last six decades — an achievement only matched by Manchester United.
West Ham United
The club was founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks FC. In 1900 the club reformed as West Ham United.They initially competed in the Southern League and Western League before eventually joining the full Football League in 1919 and subsequently enjoyed promotion to the top flight for the 1923 season. 1923 also saw the club feature in the first FA Cup Final to be held at Wembley against Bolton Wanderers.
Three West Ham players were considered an important factor behind England`s triumph in the 1966 World Cup, as England`s captain at the time was West Ham`s Bobby Moore, and both goalscorers in the final were the West Ham players Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.
Wigan Athletic
The DW Stadium (known as the JJB Stadium before August 2009)is a dual-purpose sports stadium located within the Robin Park retail complex in Wigan, Greater Manchester, opened and built in 1999.The stadium was named after its principal sponsor, the sporting goods retailer JJB Sports—whose former chairman Dave Whelan owns the Wigan Athletic football club.
Historically, the stadium was first involved in a dispute when it was revealed Dave Whelan had not paid Greater Manchester Police costs for policing football matches. The dispute was settled when the Wigan Athletic club agreed to pay the GB£300,000 owed, although the club later won back damages from the police on appeal.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Is a professional football club representing the city of Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands region of England, and currently playing in the Premier League.
Commonly referred to by their nickname Wolves, the club was founded in 1877 and since 1889 have played at Molineux.
Historically, Wolves have been highly influential, most notably as founder members of the Football League, as well as having played an instrumental role in the establishment of the European Cup, later known as the UEFA Champions League.
